A standard osteopathic consultation will last approximately 1 hour and will include a comprehensive medical history, physical examination and treatment if appropriate.

You will usually be asked to undress to your underwear, however, if you would prefer not to please bring with you shorts and a t-shirt, sportswear or wear close fitting garments. This will enable us to work effectively without making you feel uncomfortable. You are welcome to bring someone with you into the examination room if this puts you at ease, and you may wish to see an osteopath of the same sex as yourself.

Our osteopaths help you to find and address the cause of your problem. If osteopathic treatment is appropriate we will discuss a treatment plan with you. Follow up appointments usually include exercise and lifestyle advice as well as hands on treatment. Prior to osteopathic care we may refer you to your GP or another healthcare practitioner for further investigations if necessary.

For your initial consultation please bring with you any medical and/or imaging reports that you may have, and a list of regular medications if applicable. It is not essential for you to bring these documents with you, however, your osteopath may find this information useful.
