We also recognise that the perinatal period can be extremely overwhelming without a helping hand, pearls of wisdom and expert advice.

Our Mama MOT offers women a specialist postpartum assessment following both vaginal and caesarean deliveries. The assessment is a detailed discussion about your pregnancy, birth and your postpartum concerns. Followed by a physical assessment looking at your muscle strength, health, pelvic floor and abdominal healing.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During your Mama MOT assessment:

• Full Medical History and Perinatal history
• Screening for bladder, bowel or sexual dysfunction
• A postural screen
• Pelvic floor muscle assessment
• Abdominal muscle exam to check for any separation (Diastasis Recti Abdominis)
• Tailored advice addressing any concerns that you have
• Discussing a rehabilitation plan
• A written report of findings and recommendations with your goals and lifestyle factors in mind

FAQs

When can I have a Mama MOT postpartum assessment?

We advise scheduling a visit with us following your initial 8-week check-up with your GP. However, if you encounter any ongoing issues or concerns months or even years after giving birth, please remember that it is always an appropriate time to seek help.

Can I bring my baby along?

Yes, of course. The clinic is accessible and the clinic rooms are set up to accommodate babies and their needs.

What if I am still bleeding or have my period?

This does not impact the assessment however if you would feel more comfortable rearranging then please reschedule with 24hrs notice.

When will I get my Report?

You will receive your report within a week of your assessment.
