SPORTS INJURIES

Osteopathy is suitable and effective for the treatment of both acute and chronic sports related injuries.

Osteopathy can:

  • Diagnose and treat common sports injuries;
  • Identify biomechanical problems relating to the muscles, bones and tissues;
  • Ease exercise related aches and pains through manual manipulation;
  • Decrease pain related to specific complaints;
  • Prescribe appropriate stretching and conditioning exercises;
  • Help to speed up recovery time;
  • Help prevent re-injury.

Common sports injuries that we treat include ligament sprains, strains of muscles or tendons, repetitive strain injuriesachilles tendinopathyheel painshin splintsjoint inflammation, shoulder pain
and back pain.

As well as acute sports injuries caused by accidents or trauma, injuries and pain often occur due to over training, lack of training and preparation, the misuse of equipment or not wearing correct clothing/foot wear. Our osteopaths focus on finding and addressing the cause of your injury, as well as healing and easing your pain and any existing conditions.

KINESIOLOGY TAPING

Kinesiology taping (KT) is a therapeutic approach that we combine with other osteopathic techniques such as muscle energy techniques (MET’s), myofascial techniques and joint mobilisations. KT can be used effectively in any sports or non-sports related setting to support injured muscles and joints, aid rehabilitation, reduce pain and encourage lymphatic drainage.

KT is generally safe for everyone. The adhesive used on kinesiology tape has a unique acrylic base that is latex free and hypoallergenic; tape is normally applied directly onto the skin and seldom causes skin irritation.

If you have any current injuries, pain or concerns don’t hesitate to contact one of our team members. Whether you are a professional athlete or a more casual gym goer, our osteopaths can support you through injury, aid rehabilitation and help you to regain confidence.
